Letter
Dear Colleagues,
We recently completed our first EuroMed Geriatrics Meeting
of the Tunisian Geriatric Association (ATG) , which
has been scheduled in Monastir city , Tunisia from 12
to 13 May 2017. With the support of the Middle East
Academy of Medicine of Aging (MEAMA)
The International Congress, which it will be held every
year, is an opportunity for many well-known geriatrics,
gerontologists, policy decision-makers, professional
activists, and researchers to get together and share
recent discoveries and study results.
The Congress theme: "Giant Geriatric Syndrome"
has the goal to associate the pioneering spirit and
the adventure of the Discoveries to the future paths
of Geriatrics in the search for new knowledge that will
enable to improve the older patients care. It was an
opportunity to meet colleagues from Middle East and
European countries and to share experiences in geriatric
field. This meeting provides the primary multidisciplinary
forum for practitioners to present and discuss the practical
challenges and the solutions adopted in the field of
geriatrics. The program included outstanding lectures
and presentation of resident research posters.
We are extremely proud of the official publication of
the abstract book as a special issue of the Middle East
Journal of Age and Ageing (ME-JAA). The Editor-in-Chief,
Dr. ABYAD Abdulrazak, continues to guide the prestigious
scientific journal that enjoys a place at the forefront
of geriatric and gerontology science and play an active
role in the development of academic standards and medical
practice in the Arab region through the participation
and the support of regional scientific events The full
program and all abstracts for oral and posters presentations
can be found in this issue.
Geriatric Tunisian Association in collaboration with
MEAMA has been working rigorously towards the health
and wellbeing of the elderly population, to promote
better understanding of the health care needs of older
people. It also provides the first National Post Graduate
Courses in collaboration with IAGG for family physicians.
The scientific program is given by expert geriatricians.
The scientific program includes conferences, workshops,
round table discussions and interactive education sessions.
More information about the second course with the full
program can be found on the ATG website.
I would like to congratulate all the participants. We
look forward to future collaboration and to your participation
in the activities of the ATG. Thanks are extended to
Dr Abdulrazak Abyad the president of MEAMA and the MEAMA
Board for their work , support and contribution to the
organization and success of this event.
